As a future teacher my head is constantly being crammed with ideas and things to eventually do in a classroom of my own. This Instructional Technology class is no different. How could you apply this? What would you change about this? It honestly makes my head spin.
This blog is no different. I am now responsible for coming with ways to use this in an actual classroom. So... hypothetically speaking, if I taught in a school with a reasonable socioeconomic status where all parents and students had access to the internet I would try and blog twice a week, on Tuesday and Thursday. I would provide parents with not only what we were working on in class, but also with websites with activities to enhance their child's learning. I would include classroom announcements, possibly post homework help links, fun activities, etc. anything to get both the parents and students involved. I would also incorporate a special word or phrase of the week for the student to write down and bring in to me. After a certain number of weeks (probably 6-9 depending on the number of weeks in the grading period) if the students had all of special words or phrases from my blog they could receive a special treat such as a homework pass or dropping a low quiz score. This would give the children incentive to look at the blog too; and if the children are excited about it, maybe that could spread to the parents also.
I think teacher blogs are a good idea and resource to take advantage of if... time permits for the teacher to blog and post frequently, and only if everyone in the classroom could have access to it.
I love your ideas about ways learning can be improved with the technology learned in this class. They are simple and most of those you states would not require much time in completing. I feel like the majority of my time will wasted on learning the tool that by the time I learn it something new and better will be out. I can never catch up with technology.
